If they are cut flowers, try putting a small amount of bleach in the water, this is what we were told in flower arranging for use on a choisya bush that smells like cat wee, and it worked, we put it in water overnight and was fine by next day.

Is this for planting outside, or are they cut flowers that someone gave you?
If they are cut flowers and you do not like the smell, throw them away.
If they are in a pot to be planted later on, keep the pot outside with morning sun and afternoon shade. If you live where the sun gets into the 90' early in the day, only give them sun until 10:00 AM or there abouts.

Are they pink? If so they could be star gazers. Don't put them in a small room. A large room with allot of traffic and air flow to help displace the smell. You could plant them out side because of the time of year plant them in shade or half direct sunlight.

You can't get rid of the smell. But you will need to cut out the stamens in the centre of the flowers otherwise the pollen from them can ruin clothes or furnishings.

I like lillies too but never buy them as I hate the smell - it makes me feel sick. Maybe if you remove the stamens (the bits that have the pollen on them) maybe that would help, but I'm not sure. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.
