The universe is not infinite. It is very large but it is finite in size.
Time and space are not independent. Time came into being as space came into being. There was no time before space existed. In this way time is very much like the geometric element called a ray. A ray extends off into the direction it is pointing without limit. A ray does have a beginning and the concept of before the beginning point of a ray does not have any reality. In a similar way time has a beginning.

Infinity, by definition, has no beginning or end. In other words, it didn't come from from anywhere; it just was. Asking where 'nothing' came from is sort of an odd question, though. It has always been because it is nothing more than the absence of anything.
That seems a bit hard to understand, but think of this: if you have an empty drawer in your desk, the emptiness doesn't have to be created. It just is empty until you fill it.

infinity is a concept of the mind and a symbol in mathematics
but so far nothing has been proved. to be infinite just very
large. Even the number of atoms in the universe is far from infinite when there are billions of galaxies.

Aha! A trick question. You ask where nothingness came from? Well, nowhere! Nothing can't come from anywhere or it would be something. A better question is where did the something come from that you find in the nothing.

Ah, you wish to know what was before the beginning...
Let me ask some of my friends here at the saloon.
Umm-m, Buba says before every thing began, there was
only hot beer. It wasn't any good.

Infinity, by definition, is limitless and has no boundaries, no beginning, and no end. So you just have to force your mind to think about something else.
Try putting your ear to your boyfriend's bellybutton and seeing if you can hear the ocean.
