That's okay, but making a general statement that you ignore is a problem. For example, Ted Haggard..
If you're truly giving someone advice that you think is best for them but not for you, then it's fine to go against what you say.

the priority with hypocrisy is that the hypocrite is attempting to pass judgment on others whilst beautiful in that comparable interest. they're turning out to be a double familiar with their words and strikes. there is an attempt to make the recipient of the lecture experience undesirable approximately their strikes whilst the lecturer is committing the comparable offense. Hypocrisy is the previous adage, "Do as I say, not as I do." the moral question then turns into that's "perfect", the saying or the doing?

One should first be able to do the thing they are teaching as far as spiritual truths and even material things as well. If someone tells me to council their child and tell them to stop eating chocolate, then I would say come back in a couple months. Then I would have to tackle not eating chocolate myself. If I do and make it sincere and for real then I can help them also quit eating chocolate. But all these bogus so called Gurus, teachers, guides etc who tell others to do something and are not practicing themselves are cheaters,(hypocrites) run far from them. We have to understand that The original Laws of God and nature are one and can not be manipulated. So Truth is truth and Will always be as one and one Will always equal 2 and always has. The problem is mans interpretation of the holy Scriptures and truth. That's the hypocrisy. We have to be extremely pure our self to be able to discriminate what is truth and what is not. So the cheaters will be cheated that is their karma. For the laws of material nature and God read Bhagavad Gita as it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada tells all. you can read it on line For more info go to harekrishnatemple.com Very enlivening site.

Failing to do what we have said could be a bit of hypocrisy but that's not hypocrisy in general.
Hypocrisy in it's simplest form is the thing ones does when he or she is "faking".
It's a lamentable attitude to pretend we have something when we have nothing! And what a pity!
That's wrong with it - this thing called hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy is basic deceit. Hypocrisy and advice are two different things. I may advise a woman to leave a man who beats her and yet remain with my man because he doesn't beat me. I may advise someone to go to medical school because they have aptitude. I won't go because I don't. See the difference?

hyocrisy is saying you believe one thing, yet acting another way
for instance, if i say i wish for world peace and non-violence, yet i hit my child, or dont speak up when i see someone hit theirs, that is hypocrisy
and yes, part of it is accepting conditions for others that you wouldnt for yourself
but that is not the same as saying, i think this is a solution for you, what you should do, yet it wouldnt be for me, i wouldnt ever do it, for it might be totally true that your route in life is different then mine, your circumstances may require more action, though this would be rare, what advice i should give to you should be the same as what i would do
so, to me, hypocrisy is basically being a fake, its like saying Jesus is about love, now you must be a certain type Christian, or (getting back to my issue of hitting children) its like saying i told my child no, its for their best interest to punish them, so i hit them, yet i have been told not to speed, but i wouldnt accept the police popping my bum for it

Being a hypocrite takes too much energy.
Saying things that you don't mean. Doing things that you don't want. Trying to keep up with all of that ? That's lust too tiring.
But, if you have the stamina to keep it up and have the time to spend on it - by all means...
