When the sprinklers come on the pipes moan, when I turn on the hot water at the kitchen sink "full" it comes out intermitingly and knocks. This is a new house so I can call the builder to come and correct, but is this something I have done or can fix on my own?

u have cutoffs under the sink to stop the water going to the faucet and it sounds like the washer in that stop or the facet itself has come loose and is vibrating back and forth making that knocking sound.....a plumber will have to come and correct that but it will be the contractors problem since u just got the house.....he should warranty that also have the plumbers check out that moan that sounds like ur trying to put to much water thru something that wont handle it.....if u do have a PRV make sure it is turned up and has to correct preesure going to the house....should be betweeen 70-80psi but no more than 80

Have the builder correct the problem.
The moaning is probably because of the pressure at which your sprinkler is spraying....

The hot water may be because there is either to many turns betweenb your hot water tank and your kitchen sink. Or some how the flow rate reduced.

Definately call the builder since your house should still be under warranty.
Both of the problems you have described sound like they could be related to improper/ inadequate venting in the plumbing system.

Likely "water hammer". Install an air stack that is designed to "cushion" quick flow changes.

it sounds like you have a problem with pressure. Locate your water pressure regulator and adjust it using a flathead screwdriver, or install a new pressure regulator.
