I disagree coragryph...there actually is an automatic cry of "the terrorists won" when there's an attempt to defend ourselves these days...at least, that seems to be the recent pattern.

-pps...okay...re "change in our way of life"???? Exactly HOW have any of you had your lives significantly changed since the events of 9/11??....assuming you didn't have a loved one that was affected that day. Don't you think that's a bit of a crock???

I wonder that too. I have no risk from wire-tappings (I don't call anyone in a foreign country). I'm curious what these same people will say when a Democrat is President and another attack occurs on US soil.

It doesn't matter what we do to stop them they will say the terrorists won.
We can wipe them out to the man and still they will say the terrorists won because some innocent person have die.
They are invested in the in Bush hating to the point they want the terrorists to win.

Because all those anti-terrorism legislations you're so proud of--keeps eroding our freedoms, liberties, and basic rights.
Like warrantless wiretaps for example. OUTSIDE THE LAW AND WITHOUT A COURT WARRANT.
How LEGAL is that for the government to spy on YOU?

The terrorists commit terrorism specifically to make us change our way of life for the worse.
When we take away our own freedoms and harm our own people in the name of stopping terrorism, the terrorists have accomplished their goals.

The terrorist win when we abandon the principles that this country was founded on, when we react rashly and out of fear rather than being sensible.
It's not any time action is taken against the terrorists -- it's when confusion and stupidity cause us to take actions without thinking them through, based solely on the fact that we are afraid -- that's what the terrorists want to accomplish.

coragryph is correct and you are partially correct. There is an automatic outcry but it's not from the left. It comes from the right misrepresenting the lefts position.
