Yeah the video to that song by Johnny brought tears to my eyes. He just lost the Love of his life and He was a broken Man. It was very painful to watch. Great question

I think it is sad that you have had so many answers from people who obviously do not know what sadness is - how lucky are they! Nothing compares with Famous Blue Raincoat by Leonard Cohen.
For those who cannot empathise with deep lyrics like his, perhaps Annie's Song by John Denver - that's beautiful & sad but you still need compassion.

"Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables is the biggest culprit of making me cry, but there's also Josh Groban's "To Where You Are", Daniel Boys' version of "Close Every Door" from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and a (currently) unreleased song written by Mike Christie of G4, called "Why Not Today?"

I agree with you thats a sad song. So is "Will you know me in heaven" or whatever its called by Eric Clapton regarding his son that fell out of a three story high window.
