I know the several of the skyscrapers in NYC don't have a thirteenth floor, because of all the superstitious people out there. Actually, I would probably avoid renting on the 13th floor myself. Why tempt fate? I don't know anything about a Chapter 11 in books. There is a Chapter 11 in income tax filing! lol Now that would scare the heck outa me!

maybe because the no. 13 means bad luck - publishers are not afraid of chapter 11 because they know the book might make them money.

All buildings have a 13th floor, some just name it the 14th

Naming the 13th floor anything except for "13th floor" doesn't change the fact that it is the 13th floor. It is a stupid superstition.

this question was asked a few weeks ago! from it I learned that chapter 11 meant bankruptcy; we don't have this saying in u.k.
