Well yes . but my complaint is we seem to have a president who practices the statement " My way or the highway"
He also seems to have gathered a group around him who have sworn a allegiance to him, and merely consider the people a necessary evil to be appeased or ignored.
I am tired of the corrupt unresponsive government we have had for the last several administrations irrespective of party affiliation .

We had one. Harry Truman of Missouri. He declined to run for a second term in his own right because public polling gave him a low rating and the political air was poisoned over the conflict in Korea, where America responded with troops in support of a UN Peace Enforcement Mission. He was savaged by the GOP even though that party, when in the majority in the Congress in 1947, passed the UN Support Act. Sound familiar?

Why? Federal spending is necessary. The postal service, passport agency, Eisenhower highway systems, etc. are all vital services.

Also, I remember the federal govt stopping when Clinton was in office as they tried to pass and balance the budget. Maybe the buck stopped there, we had record surplus.

We had one already: Truman. One of our worst Presidents ever.
1. He gave Eastern Europe to Stalin
2. He lost China to Mao -- 60 million slaughtered.
3. He bungled the Korean Conflict.
4. He refused to fire known KGB agents from his State Department out of political intransigence, setting the stage for Joe McCarthy to expose the ugly, divisive truth.
