There are many products on the market to help you stop biting your nails, but you don't have to buy lots of stuff. I used to bite mine and I stopped!
One good way to slow down nail biting is to keep nails painted. They look nice, and you will be less inclined to bite them and mess them up (if you go and get a manicure, they will look even nicer, and it will have cost you more, leaving you even less inclined to bite!) If you are a female, getting fake nails may help a lot, since you can't get at the real ones
Related to this is one of the products I mentioned above. You can buy nail polish (it is even clear so men can use it too!) that tastes awful (bitter, very spicy, etc) and that uses aversion therapy to get you to stop (every time you do it, YUCK! and you stop eventually!). You can buy clear nail polish and add things like sparkles (who wants sparkles in their mouth?!), chili oil, or even sardine/anchovies' liquid (or something else that grosses you out!), then paint over that will non-gross nail polish to lock in the smell. If you bite them, though, it will be gross!
Another way to stop is to put lotion on your hands every day. When you go to bite your nails, you will get a mouthful of lotion as you put your finger in there, and that might work!
Another form of aversion therapy would be to wear a rubber band on your wrist and snap it every time you bite your nails. It really hurts if you do it honestly, and it gets sore so the more you do it, the worse the pain!
Hypnosis works for some people, but that can be expensive or hard to find, and takes longer.
With some persistence, honesty, and a desire to improve your self-control (maybe with a little help from a sardine or a bottle of nail polish) you can do this! I DID! :)

You can buy a nail Polish that has a very bitter additive- It will not keep you from chewing but it will provide a very unpleasant reminder.
