I have a 96' maxima. about 4 months ago it started having problems starting but if i pushed in the clutch pedal real hard it would start. i thought it was the clutch or the safety swith behind it. but its not. (already went down that route) ive taken the starter off and had them test the starter and the solenoid. it was fine. every once in a blue moon my car will start up just like it was new. no problem at all. it went from 1 every 4 times i tried (it would start like normal) -to 1 every 20 times and gradually now barely ever. but if someone pushes my car and i pop the clutch it starts just fine-can someone please help i want to be able to go places again!

I have bypassed the clutch safety switch so the car can now start without depressing the clutch, it has started many times since then without anyone pressing clutch in

well having to push the clutch pedal down real hard makes me believe its the safety switch but if you have been down that road then lets move on. have you thought about checking the ignition switch, if the starter tests fine than take a test light to the soleniod wire and when you turn the key it should light up and the vehicle should start, if you have no power there than this is where your next step should be, figure out why. is it a starter relay ???

Your car have electric problems, check that follow items. 1- Check the regular voltage on batt. Have 12.0 Volts or more? if is not, try with good battery. if is yes, 2.- try connect (jump it) the electric clutch switch (behind clutch pedal. Run the engine? if is yes, replace that switch. if is not, check the fuses, you have to look for bad connections or burn fuse in fuse box (under dash board, left side and or under hood). 3- Check 12 volts between the clutch wires switch, if is not, you have to find a cut circuit wires between contact switch and hot provider and ground. I hope you find the problem.
