I like the atmosphere so much better in UK and EU I could only begin to explain.
People are social, not as many aloof and antisocials in all the bars and clubs. They're usually very well-read, intelligent, considerate, and know about the rest of the world.
It's not all about, "What do you do? Where did you go to school? What part of town did you come from?"
They know how to eat, drink and be merry, less violence, less anger and intolerance in general, (but I've heard soccer games can get out of control).
You can walk around the cities almost always safe and clean, good trams, trains, buses, healthy looking people that ride bicycles (at least in Northern Eu)
Beautiful people with cool, slick or sexy style, or just timeless types with natural beauty, don't always wear makeup or perfumes. Many have great messed up hair, not all spray and gel.
My best experiences have been in Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Greece, and Portugal. Some good times in UK, too, but it's a bit less relaxed than the Continent.

I was recently in france, and its a pretty good place. The people are friendly and helpful--- not arrogant as they been labeled. You have your bad seeds and rude people, but its like that everywhere.
Very easy to get around Paris, the metro system is excellent. The food is so excellent. Paris is a bit too Tourist for my liking, and there are too many clothing shops. The city is like a giant shopping mall.
The clubs are amazing. Just be warn, they really are fashion conscious in France. Their style leaves aussies/americans for dead.
