Even though I can't stand them, I'd have to say The Beatles. After all, there's a Beatles song for everyone.

I don't really like The Beatles, but Kurt got influenced by the Beetles, so without the beetles, Nirvana would have probably never been around.
But I'd say The Beetles, even thought I love Nirvana with all my heart, The Beetles influenced "About A Girl".

I love both bands tremendously, but let's look at this question and consider both history and logic. The Beatles had the courage to create a new sound and a revolution in music that broke down many previous barriers and opened new doors to other bands. Would there even be a Nirvana if the Beatles had not existed? Kurt said many times that he was greatly influenced by the Beatles in general and John Lennon in particular. So, I would say the Beatles were the greater band as far as going down in history, but I feel that both bands stand in their own light musically speaking, with their individual distinctions.

Well, I like Nirvana more, but definitely The Beetles will because they were so huge! Every single song they put out went to #1 and girls were just throwing themselves at them! No band could ever succeed of what The Beetles went thru.

I usually prefer Nirvana, but the Beatles are just about the most popular band in history.

No comparison, the Beatles are the most famous RockNRoll band of all time. Nirvana is just a band from an era when music was pathetic. Hasn't been much good rock music since the early 80's. Kurt Cobain is just a dead drug addict

The Beatles started it all. When they were around, people were discovering them and their sounds for the first time, and were like "What's this? It's so different and unique." The Beatles were a band like no other. Nirvana wouldn't have probably been around if it weren't for The Beatles.

The Beatles. They were genius and changed the face of music forever. People won't know Nirvana 30 years from now.

No bias here as I enjoy both. My answer... the Beatles. Seen from a musician's point of view their music was far more sophisticated and more likely to be acceptable by most. Nirvana and all that it stood for appealed to a certain sector of the community... sad but true.
