6c^4 × 7c^6 my question is do you add or multipy the exponents is the answer 42c^10 or 42c^24 Thanks so much for all your help!

add the exponents when similar bases are multiplied.

c^7 times c^8 = c^(7+8) = c^15

the numbers 6 & 7 just multiply to 42

your answer should be 42c^10

when multiplying w/ like bases you always add the exponents, therefore your answer after multiplying/adding would be 42c^10

Add the exponents.
c^4 means c * c * c * c.
c^6 menas c * c * c * c * c * c
When multiplied, you have 10 of them multiplied, giving c^10.
