I have a secret to tell you...now don't tell
anyone about it...lol
I just use banana peels...Yup, when you are done eating the bananas, just throw the
peel on top of the groud...MINE are big and beautiful because of them...and it is all I
use on them...they like the potassium
I guess.

Manure and fish emulsion is all you need to grow big, strong, and beautiful roses. That's all I use and my roses are lush. All you have to do is mix the manure into the top layer of soil each year and give them a few drinks with fish emulsion added during the growing season. As for miracle-Gro, I read somewhere once that "Miracle-Gro is crack for roses." It's a quick fix and it leaves the soil depleted. It's not good for any perennial except for maybe once and a while. I've never heard of Vigoro, I only know what works for me.
Good Luck
Oh, you can get manure and fish emulsion at any garden center. I don't know if you have a Lowe's in California, but that is where I purchase mine. It's about .97cents for a 40lb of manure (already composted... never use raw) and I don't remember how much the fish emulsion is but it's not much.
They really do thrive on these two things. A long time and well respected rose enthusiast passed this on to me a long time ago and I'll never use anything else.

Get some rabit, lamb or goat excrement, and mix it with the top ground of the plant, and give it some water.
That's all it needs. Some ash would help also, to make the plant greener.

the best food for roses comes out of the back end of horses, stable manure. It is free, the stables have plenty and are pleased to get rid of it

We use miracle grow plant food especially for roses and garden flowers and it works perfectly. makes them beautiful and blooms are just gorgeous, also try planting them in miracle grow potting soil to start the blooms and then transfer to ground if u want or keep them potted.
