I'm going on vacation with my boyfriend to the ocean in a few weeks and I was wondering if there was anyway to stop my period from coming. Birthcontrol, etc.

Depo provera stops most womens peroids as soon as they get the first shot. I don't reccommend it long term as weight gain is a big side effect.

Woah!!! For the people reccomending you skip the placebos, know that only can be safely done with monoclyclic birth control (all the pills have the same amount of med)...pills like ortho-tri-cyclene are NOT safe to do this with, you could become pregnant.

Not really.
If you start birth control pills NOW it's probably not going to stop your period, it takes a few MONTHS for your body to get used to birth control and start controlling your periods.
I'm afraid you're just going to have to use a tampon because there's no healthy way to force your body to skip a period.

I'm not sure if it will work differently with a shot, if you're willing to get that. The best thing to do is to ask your doctor.

For a few weeks, no. Only certain forms of birth control can do that. If your serious with him, then yes, you should to prevent anything from happening, but just for vacation no. I'm personally think about, about, but that's because I'm going to be deployed for a year plus.

I use a homeopathic called Unda. You would have to go to a naturopathic Dr to get this though. There not covered under insurance either. I payed $125 for my first visit, but every naturopath is different. Good luck, and have fun on your trip! Hope you find something that works for you!!

If you are on the pill, just keep taking them, don't take the "white" ones (placebos) that start your period....start on a new package. It is safe to do. My GYN had me do it for 3 months straight because of a chronic pain issue that was worsened with menstrual flow.
If you aren't on the pill, if you figure out how to skip a period without being pregnant, you will make a lot of money!

It can be done. There are birth control pills available that allow you to have a period only every 4 months. Ask your gynecologist about it.
