I last volunteered in Cincinnati OH 2005-2006. I volunteered as a tutor for the Juvenile Detention Center. It was for a period of about 10 months. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I was even offered the opportunity for employment.
I am no longer there because I moved. It was not easy to travel back and forth between two cities. Where I live now, there are opportunities for volunteering, but they are very discriminating; you need a college degree. Oh well, their loss.

I haven't volunteered in a while (although I desperately want to) because I've been too busy. The last time I volunteered was for the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. I drove down to MIssisippi with a group of classmates to help rebuild houses and clear away debris from the wreckage. It was lots of fun and made me feel for the victims.

A few years ago, with Big Sisters, I was with the agency for 4 years and loved it! Great experience, and before that when I was 12 years old I was a candystriper at the local hospital for a year.

i volunteered every summer vacation i had from school from 1998 to 2003. collecting over 1,000 hours of service. it was working with kids with special needs. good luck.

It was very fun and rewarding.
I help these little kids put on a production play for the battered womens shelter. I also donated various things [Toys for the kids, toiletries, hygiene products, etc.] to the battered womens shelter
