I have 3 little girls....ages 10, 8, and 4....We have been trying for about 9 months for baby number 4. My husband is 28 and I am 26. I know that it gets harder to conceive with age but neither of us is that old. My question is this, after having absolutely no trouble getting pregnant with the first 3, could a fertility problem suddenly be affecting one of us?? If so, what. THANKS ALL!!

Honey, it gets harder to conceive with age over age 35, not age 26, lol. The bottom line is, no two pregnancies are the same, so even though you got pregnant on a sneeze the last 3 times, this one is obviously different. You shouldn't even consider there's a problem until it's been 12 months of trying.

It could be that having 3 rugrats running around has added extra stress and therefore, running some interference with conceiving. I would suggest buying an ovulation predictor kit. An OPK will tell you exactly when you're fertile so you know when you need to have sex.

Good luck!!

Infertility is defined as 1 yr of trying without a pregnancy. There is something called secondary infertility. That is when a couple has children but has difficulty conceiving others.

At 9 mo. you do not fit into any of these categories. After a year has passed you can decide to get the both of you checked out to make sure there hasn't been any changes in fertility.

Good Luck.

I sort of relate. First try, we got pregnant with out daughter (I was 26 then, my husband was 28 then). We are now 29 and 31 and TTC for 3 months. I know it's only 3 months, but I thought I would get pregnant 1st try like last time. I'm not too old, so I'm wondering if there's a problem with me too. Good luck! Baby dust to you!

It's always possible but you guys are both young. It may just be that there is a little stress in your house from having to care for your 3 little ones. Relax and keep having sex. If nothing happens in the next couple of months go see your doctor and see about going to a specialist to get checked (both you and your husband).

Weight loss can help your chances of pregnancy. Let me ask you something. Are you familiar with a syndrome called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)? About 10% of women have it but very few know about it. It causes excess weight, body hair, irregular periods, acne.....i.e. all the fun stuff. It's hard to lose weight when you have this and losing weight helps bring your reproductive cycles into balance. If this is you, you ought tot alk to your doctor. If not, losing weight is still a good idea because you are less likely to develop gestational diabetes and your body can better cope with a pregnancy.

Make sure you're having sex at the time of the month you're most fertile. I'd see my ob/gyn if I were you. But just to let you know, the clinical definition of infertility is nor results after one year of trying. I can see why you're concerned after 9 months though.

Sometimes you can have a few kids, and still have problems getting pregnant all of a sudden. For one your egg quality might be old. If your not pregnant within a few months I would talk to your OB.

I don't think so. It should be easier to conceive since you've had children before. You should try having sex every other day to conceive the 4th one.
