XPS has always been better because that is a heavy duty laptop.
If you have a huge budget. Get an XPS laptop.

XPS is powerful. actually too powerful that it might be go waste. except you are a hardcore gamer that is seldom/never think about brought your laptop around, I think inspiron is better.
Gaming computer/laptop is the most powerful home-user computer available in market. however, as a laptop, it have some downsides :
1. Very Heavy (can reach >10Kg)
2. Very Power hungry (less than an hours on full power)
3. Bulky design (big screen etc)
4. High temperature (too much power ?)
5. Very Expensive (3000+)
However, all those downsides is a trade off for 1 thing. Raw power. if you're gonna use it to play some most sophisticated game available on the market (and looking for a very cool designed laptop), go with XPS
so the decision is back to you. do you really need that much firepower ? even the best laptop in the world is a waste if you only going to open some word document with it . think for yourself about what are you going to do with it before deciding to buy it. if you only do "a little bit of everything", my money on Inspiron.

I own the XPS 720 desktop system, and let me tell you, it will blow away just about anything. With the xps, you are guranteed great performance in anything, multitasking, games, and just the usual tasks and things of that nature. However, inspiron is just "basic" if you know what i mean. Its in the normal group of computers and will run into problems, not great for gaming, just good for normal stuff, not great like xps is. Xps is much better, and if you have the budget i recommend you buy it.

seem for the specification and purchase the suitable one. in case you evaluate the XPS with Studio, you will discover almost comparable configuration (in case you customize) and for this reason the two are sturdy for gaming. So it actual relies upon up on what you choose. i think of Inspiron is a low end one.

Whatever has XP as it's operating system. You do NOT want Vista...YET, at least. It has too many problems going on since it's so new on the market. If you want Vista just play the waiting game for a while to give M$ a chance to "Fix" the thing........

Inspiron is cheaper and works well for business/school. XPS is more expensive but works better for advanced gaming.
