Hubby and I argue on this. I refer to a day coming up in the
days to come as "this week". He says, "next week". Maybe I
should say, 'this next week', so he'll maybe understand better?
He'll get confused all the time on what I'm trying to tell him to
maybe mark on the calender an appointment. So what are
your answers to t his dilema of ours?

if it is sunday and there is an event say like in 4 days i would say "this week" and if there were something coming up like in 8 days i would say "next week" so i am with you, if you are on sunday things happening like monday and wed are "this week" and "next week" would be the following monday and wed etc.....tough question!

technically it's 'this week' because if you look at calendars, 9 out of 10 they begin with the day Sunday, but some people refer to the start of each week on a Monday because that is when work, school etc... continues. It may help to specify with days And dates. But it sounds like your way of speaking it is more sensible to eliminate the confusion of 'next week'. If I heard 'next week' I'd think of an actual week later, not a day coming up. If you could both just decide on which one to use for like 5 minutes, you may think it's not a big enough deal, but it can help clarify events in the future if it is worked out now. Hope that helps =)

If it is a Sunday, anything through Friday is a "this." If I'm referring to the coming up weekend it is "next weekend" until Monday and then it becomes "this weekend" and the following weekend becomes "next weekend." If I am referring to any day in the following week and it is a Sunday thru Saturday it is "next week"

Gee, that wasn't confusing AT ALL !!!

Mention the day and the date so there will not be
any confusion on either side.
