Islam Delenda Est (below) Well stated although I disagree with much your statement.

On going war does not preclude discussion on how to END the conflict. Discussing ending the conflict dose not equate to treason.

I ask that about more than just war. Why can't we ignore political party when all people are affected, no matter what party.
I believe we take our social queues from the party we most associate ourselves with and dedicate ourselves to the same resolve.
It is a sad thing that we cannot just discuss an issue without it resorting to what party we support or come from.
I do believe it has a farther reaching detriment than the politician perspective, as it now impacts "public opinion" which is pushed as "the american people believe/feel..."

great question though

Politics has transcended religion as the single most divisive force in the US today.

Far too many people are more concerned with attacking the other party, or beating the other party, or sticking with their own party -- they don't care about the merits of the issues, because those take too much effort to discuss.

It's tragic, and getting worse every day.

Someone has...his name is Joe Lieberman. He put his principles above party loyalty and the response was that the Democratic party threw him out.

I think people need to come together and support the troops rather than stick to their party beliefs.

Islam has the answer above, I can't top that. they vote to go in, after that it should never be used for political gain, by either side.
