Egypt is a dictatorship where human rights are violated and people thrown in jail without trial. Husni Mubarak has been dictating since 1981 without any elections and we've been supporting his illiegitmate government from the Reagan administration.

BTW...who else did Reagan support? Oh yeah Saddam...and he sent DICK & Rumsefeld in support of Iraq when Saddam attacked Shias. Have you conveniently forgotten that fact?

U.S. is gonna send $20 BILLIONS worth of weapons as A GRANT...that Israel will use against Palestinians. Israel has been violating U.N. Resolutions since 1948 and we've been supporting an illegitimate country that has occupied Arab land. And then we wonder why the hell Muslims hate so much?

Palestinian aid went directly to the pockets of Mahmoud Abbas and his corrupt Fattah Party. Why else did you think people voted for Hamas? Because Fattah was STEALING from Palestinians just like Republicans are stealing from U.S. treasury.

So am I to understand that you feel that all monies are going to Israel and Iraq and NONE are going to American education, health-care and our future?

I don't think that is a correct statement/question at all, that is all I have to say on that.

USA’s aid, in terms of percentage of their GNP has almost always been lower than any other industrialized nation in the world, though paradoxically since 2000, their dollar amount has been the highest. (Only since 2004 have they move up from last place, by just one or two places.)

You seem to be advocating the repeal of Defense spending and foreign aid for reinvestment in the future of America.

Sounds very nobel until you come to realize that the US is already the stingiest developed nation relative to GNP while it's private citizens and corporations rank as the world's most charitable. Americans privately give at least $34 billion overseas—more than twice the US official foreign aid of $15 billion over the same period of time.

Without a strategy for robust defense and contribution toward global and regional stability, there will be no future to invest in.

The US being the wealthiest, strongest and most influential nation, it is worth seeing how their actions or inaction affect other nations. One notable area is US foreign aid. Being a major part of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and even helping to formulate the United Nations over 50 years ago, their actions can be felt around the world.

Around the world for numerous years, many have criticized the US for cutting back on its promised obligations and responsibilities, and that furthermore, when it has provided aid, it has been tied to its own foreign policy objectives. Yet, many rich nations that provide aid can be criticized in a similar way.

“Trade, not aid” is regarded as an important part of development promoted by some nations. But in the context of international obligations, it is also criticized by many as an excuse for rich countries to cut back aid that has been agreed and promised at the United Nations.

In recognition of the special importance of the role which can be fulfilled only by official development assistance, a major part of financial resource transfers to the developing countries should be provided in the form of official development assistance. Each economically advanced country will progressively increase its official development assistance to the developing countries and will exert its best efforts to reach a minimum net amount of 0.7 per cent of its gross national product at market prices by the middle of the Decade

1st, there is alot of oil in Iraq, and they thought that they could easily gain control of that oil.

2nd, As long as the public is distracted by the war, no one notices all the dirty deeds going on in the background, the excuse of national security allows massive violations of our civil rights.

3rd, Any one paying attention should be able to see that the neocons are waging class war in the U.S., by refusing to enforce the laws against illegal immigration, labor laws, and a host of other laws designed to protect individual rights, vastly increasing the costs of higher education, and in essence, spending most of the tax dollar of the middle class on promoting international corporations. Oh yeah, medicaid is nothing but a subsidy for illegal immigration, where most of our medicaid dollars are going.

Typical Republican thinking. Improving health-care, for instance would step on the toes of too many party supporters (medical and insurance donators).
The Trillions we're spending overseas could send every American HS senior thru college!

Is the 1.2 billion if foreign aid that the Palestinians get a waste too? How about Egypt, they are close on the heels of Israel. Why don't you get an education?

I have often wondered where the human species would be if we had, instead of spending the majority of our money and effort perfecting ways to break down life, we instead spent it to improve the quality of life for all. With how proficient we have become at killing one another, I feel that if the energy and resources were put to constructive purposes we could leave diseases and hate a thing of the past.

Two reasons;

1) investing in American education, health-care & future will not put money in his pocket or that of his corporate supporters.

2) investing in American education, health-care & future isn't macho.
