It actually used to be cheaper to buy your tickets on Disney's website than at the gate. However, I heard that the new tickets were not going to offer an advance savings, haven't had a chance to confirm this yet.
I'm not sure if you know it yet, but Disney is raising/raised ticket prices. So, if you want to try and save some money, try calling Disney. The prices were supposed to go up today (2008 prices came out) but they were having problems with their systems, so they extended, until tomorrow I believe. So you should still be able to get the lower prices, if you are able to get them today.
Other than saving you a little money (if that is still the case) you will also save the time of getting the tickets when you are there. Lines can be really long and you want to spend your time in the park, not waiting to buy your tickets, so I always get tickets in advance on in my package.
Hope this helps!

Check out some of the package deals that local hotels or travel agencies have. You can often get a good deal with them, and even on the passes that are good for so many days. I got one with a hotel called the Caribe Royale, which included a one bedroom suite for 4 nights, a full breakfast every morning, free transportation to the disney park (but it was only 1 mile out of disney), and a 4 day plus a waterpark ticket for each of us (all adult tickets since my kids were older). There were four of us, and it only cost $1280 TOTAL for that. We made reservations around 2:30pm at a restaurant on Disney (our big meal of the day), got a snack a little later, and kept a cooler for sandwich stuff at the hotel for a late dinner. And even though we didn't stay exactly on Disney, it was great! The hotel had a great big pool with a waterslide for the kids (and adults!) too! With that and gas, a little spending money, the trip for the four of us was about $1900 for the 5 days we were there. It was wonderful! Good Luck!

Here is are reputable online ticket dealers.
www.ticketmania.com (I have purchased from them, very good service)
www.undercovertourist.com (just purchased from these guys, very quick)
Both are certified to sell Disney tickets. You will note that the tickets aren't deeply discounted. If you get them for less elsewhere, you are probably getting scammed. Also, your local AAA office can sell you discounted tickets, no fear as they can't get lost in the mail.
