Locutus (below) Disagree ONLY because the Taliban afforded Al-Q training camps to launch their plots from.
However, your point also has validity as I did not go into details.

There are more troops in Iraq because that is where the oil is located. Bush is all about oil. It makes good politics for the war to go on so keeping the war alive in Afghanistan helps Republicans get elected because they are big on war. Bush did not lose focus. He wanted to make the war go on for political reasons.

Well, first the premise of your question is slightly flawed, as the Taliban has never been proven to have BEEN involved in the 9/11 attacks. That was the work of Al Queda... the Taliban was the Government of Afghanistan who was only "harbouring" Al Queda.
Next, we thought we HAD pretty well smacked down Al Queda and the Taliban prior to withdrawling many troops from Afghanistan... in fact Afghanistan only started being "trouble" again in the last year... with the help of terrorist bases in Pakistan.
Now it's true that Afghanistan is larger than Iraq in both area and population... Ask a General

What's amazing is the responses that state that the troops are closest to the situation and know more than we do back home regarding Saddam's involvement in 9/11. Oy vey. The average troop on the ground is not in a position to know anymore than he is told about the political situation in Iraq. Patrolling Baghdad doesn't give them any special insight into 9/11. On top of that, George Bush has said more than once that Saddam was not involved.

Wrong again Coragryph!!!! You kinda make this shi* up as you go Huh? Here's a little tidbit Guess where most of the Terrorist high command that we captured are from ? Give up? (pun intended) Answer is IRAQ ! Now I will explain this one more time ! The reason that there hasn't been a declaration of war is because we are not fighting a specific Country we are fighting Radical Muslims which in fact are spread out all over. However If the Liberals get there way and pull out of Iraq Terrorist will first massacre thousands of Iraqis and then the new dictator in charge will make Iraq a safe haven for Terrorist . Are you getting this ???? Am I typing to fast? Now here is the best part ! Guess what country they are going to target? Hint? USA... And boys and girls this is why the worst thing we as Americans could do is vote Democrat . Doing so is not only stupid but Dangerous To America

Because the war in Afghanistan (7 Oct. 2001), wasn't going well after one year (October 2002) so Bush needed a distraction and invaded another country. Wolfowitz, the architect of the Iraq mess, had peddled that idea to Clinton since 1993, but Clinton didn't want anything to do with him and his merry band of war mongers. That's why he was impeached.
Wolfowitz and his band, using Bush, wanted to create a new world order, establishing three big US bases in Iraq, which is actually going on right now. the first one is being build for 3 Billion Dollar near Bagdhad.

Because Saddam Hussein and the oil unfortunately did not reside in Afghanistan. If it did, Bush would have killed 2 birds with 1 stone.
Instead he deceived the American people (actually the dumb ones that still support him) into believing that the terrorists and wmd's were in Iraq.
If we would have focused on Afghanistan, the taliban would not be growing in numbers again.

ummmm. taliban was not involved in 911. you're probably thinking of the house of saud, old business buddies of the bush dynasty.
but al qa'ida quite probably was involved, and at the time were headquartered primarily in afghanistan. but would it have been a done deal? no. you probably never been to afghanistan, it's not like you might think. remember, years of very stern handed occupation by the ussr more or less bankrupted the soviet union. they never did get a handle on it.

handsome stranger..please do all of us a favor and stop posting.
Stay home, read a book, ( that's those things about the size of a playstation game box with a bunch of pieces of paper inside) or walk out your front door, turn left at the first corner, and continue walking until you get a clue.

Oil, between 100,000 and 300,000 barrels of the oil that Iraq produces every day disappears from the inventory. You can guess who is stealing that oil.

the Taliban had nothing to do with 9/11. they gave Osama and his crew a place to stay since they helped them get rid of the soviets BUT they didn.t plot any terrorist attacks on any country.
