Read the Communist Manifesto and you will understand that all this corporatism is merely to socialize the people with the profits of capitalism....
Long live the revolution... as unpalatable to some as it might be, Chavez is on the right track.

JustGoodFolks.... Marx was quite clear that capitalism is to be used to build the infrastructures that is required by a civilized society, once the society has accumulated sufficient through its resources, natural and human, the rewards should be evenly shared through society... This is the bit that greedy, destructive capitalists hate... just read those below.

I agree Chavez is on the right track.I don't understand the rest of your position though I'm familiar with Communist Manifesto.
America is still strongly in the hands of the social Darwinists.
The right is trying to call any correction to jungle capitalism socialism like they tried to do when child labor was abolished. That's not an assumption, that's documented fact.
I don't think the revolution is coming anytime soon

We already have a hybrid and the socialism part is breaking the capitalism part. We once were capitalist, but have become more socialist over the last century. Capitalism served us well, creating an economy where the average citizen enjoyed a standard of living only dreamed of in most other countries. Greece should be an example and a warning of where socialism leads. It works better with a small society than a large society such as ours. If small countries like Greece, Portugal and Spain cannot survive socialism, why would anyone believe that we would do better? Socialism creates nothing but more expense while supporting a segment of society that will not work. A Canadian lawmaker once stated that being a little bit socialist feels good, but that being a little bit socialist is like being a little bit pregnant. It keeps growing until it takes on a life of it's own.

Socialism has been a part of the economy since the New Deal back in Franklin Roosevelt's day. Conservatives are trying to stop the slide towards socialism. If Chavez is so wonderful and his economic policies are so great how come, months ago there was no sugar and no meat in the stores to buy? The Soviets were on the right track to, until they couldn't outspend the capitalist economy of the US. The citizens would wait in lines for hours to buy toilet paper, bread and meat, if they could afford it. Yeah, I can totally see where that would be preferable to going to any grocery store in sight and pick up some squares whenever I wanted. No line, unless I was waiting to check out. Don't even get me started about the cars. Trabant anyone?

"Marx was quite clear that capitalism is to be used to build the infrastructures that is required by a civilized society, once the society has accumulated sufficient through its resources, natural and human, the rewards should be evenly shared through society"
This implies a static society or that society will one day reach such a state, sadly human societies do not function in this manner
Human societies and infrastructures are constantly changing and evolving
Just one more reason Marx was a near-sighted Idiot

Well nice to see that someone on this forum is familiar with one of the most profound thinkers of the past two centuries. I think most sensible people understand that a purely socialistic society, as envisioned by Marx and Engels, is unrealistic, but that the excesses of capitalism run amuck, would eventually lead to a society that yearns for a more equitable distribution of wealth, through government intervention. Thus, though no pure form of socialism is really achievable, something approximating socialism is.
Only the most dogmatic conservative can refuse to see that Marx was prescient in his declarations concerning the future of capitalism in his seminal works, “The Communist Manifesto”, and “Das Kapital”. Everything he predicated, from the conglomeration of corporations into monopolies, and the greater divide between the ownership class and the working class are coming to pass. The disenfranchisement caused by such disparities will result in a public push for a more socialist style of government.

SOCIALISM--system of social organization in which property and the distribution of income are subject to social control rather than individual determination or market forces.
That would mean the corporations would not enjoy their large profits, so they would not see any benefit to a socialist society. Socialism is a step below communism in that the government treats you as incapable of decision making. Though some of our politicians are suggesting programs that border on socialism, I do not see us heading to a socialist society.

The theory of socialism privatizes property and corporations do not benefit from it. Your theory is false. Capitalism benefits corporations while socialism benefits the government only.
And socialism is still in the United States and has been since the New Deal, but the country has not turned completely socialist.

Socialism is coming I agree. The majority believe health care etc are rights. We will end up with a 2 tiered medical system one for the poor and around the corner the rich get their specialized medical care at posh hospitals its already happening.

Socialism is for people who are lazy and stupid. It never works. Capitalism is for people who are motivates and intelligent. Capitalism rewards hard work and courage, Socialism rewards mediocrity. Every time we let big government take over it ends in tyranny.

after Communism collapses in all of Eastern Europe and is quietly being abandoned in much of Asia, you still have this opinion about Marx' later ramblings??
I guess evidence just doesn't matter to a committed leftist ... all that matters is seizing power in the name of the proles and stealing from the middle class and well to do.
thanks for the evidence; some Americans seem to have forgotten it.
