4 years after declaring 'Mission Accomplished' we await a report in October to tell us whether we have achieved our 'unstated goals' or not.

Anybody else awake in America today?

It is going to be interesting how the President will justify our continued presence in Iraq. On what grounds can we deem that the report will yield positive results? After all, in order to say some outcome is good or bad, we have to have benchmarks to assess whether a particular endeavor met our standards. Unfortunately, this administration has been reticent to enumerate any clear objectives, and merely speaks in ambiguous terms of freedom and defeating terror.

I like the way Bill Maher puts it when he said (paraphrase): “Of course their will be less Iraqi deaths when more troops are on the ground, just like Daddy will stop beating Mommy when the cops are on the front porch. That doesn’t mean that once the cops leave Daddy won’t start pummeling Mommy again”. Bill Maher hit the nail right on the head, as he usually does. The only way we will see true achievement is if the Iraqi people stop massacring each other after we have left.

Its going to change to a mission to feed the hungry in Iraq or protect the oil pipelines. But the humanitarian thing will be the twist they are looking for. And I mean the next government. Theres a reason the dems arent working very hard to get us out of there and its all a bunch of stonewalling. They could impeach Bush the whole country would get upset. Most would agree. Why not its the overall strategy of the special interest groups for us to stay in Iraq indefinitely. The liberals will gain control of the entire thing in just over a year and we will still be there because it will be a humanitarian thing.

Are you talking about the 8% approval rating for the Democrat Controlled Congress. It's an all time low.

I see your point!

yeah we should just leave and wait to be attacked, as well as our allied to be attacked on our own soil, as well as leave the Iraqi people exposed so they get killed off by insurgents as well as by members of Al-Quieda.

Yeah brilliant idea, if people who complained spent more time finding a better solution we could be done and people would be back home.
