Not if it is used correctly, like if you need to get hold of a parent, or an instance where you have to communicate with someone. The problem with this whole thing, is not the teens, or the phone, it is society, we use the phone for things it was not invented for, it is not and never was a substitute for actually visiting someone and having a talk. Phones were for communicating when you could not make a personal appearance, or for an emergency, now they are a device to create huge phone bills, and make the user a nuisance to others, (especially drivers). But if used correctly, a teen can benefit form having a cell phone.

I had my first cell phone when I was 11, and now that I am 15 I don't want it anymore. If the person is responsible, then why not?

Wrong? No. But will you be on it all the time, running up charges? You should use the land line for conversations. If you can use the cell phone for emergencies or only to take a message to call someone on the land line, Great.

I dont think it is. Your going to drive soon and its important to have a cell phone when you drive just in case you get in a accident or something. I think around the ages of 13+ is when everyone is getting a cell phone. I am 11 and I own a tracfone (a starter phone). I think your fine. Everybody my age now (11) is getting nice cell phones. Their getting flips, camera, video, etc. I think your fine ;D

No it's fine...as long as you use it for what you need it and don't make your parents spend more on extra minutes or text messages. It's actually good to have a cell phone to communicate with your parents and always know where you're all at...you can also talk to your friends...but just use what you're given, don't over use the minutes because it doesn't help your parents' pockets. Good luck :)

Speaking as one who doesn't own a cell phone, nothing at all - and I get the same reaction. People have managed without cell phones for hundreds of years; ownership of one doesn't seem critical to me. It's just another way to forfeit privacy. I don't want to be available to all of the people all of the time. And it's just another thing to spend money on, which I can't afford at the moment.

why would it be wrong?
It is wrong to abuse a cell phone at any age! By this I mean runing up the bill and sending thousands of texts per day. If you are responsible with it and use proper etiquette while using it I don't see a problem.

No, you deserve a cell phone by the time you are in Middle School. Anybody younger than 12 doesn't need one.
