An area encompassed by a square one foot on each side would be 1 square foot. A cubic foot is a measure of volume. A cube of one foot per side would enclose a volume of one cubic foot. They are not the same as area only describes a two dimensional concept like the surface of a sheet of paper while volume is in three dimensions like a glass of water.

A square foot is a square that is 1foot by 1foot in dimensions.
A cubic foot is a CUBE that is 1foot by 1foot by 1foot in dimension.

Square feet are used to calculate the area of a 2-dimensional figure like a triangle or a circle
Cubic feet are used to calculate the VOLUME of a 3-dimensional figure like a sphere or a cube (like a box).

Let's say you have a rectange that was 5 feet by 4 feet. If you want to know how many 1-foot squares can fit INSIDE that rectangle, you would take 5ftx4ft to get 20 SQUARE feet. That means you can put 20 1' by 1' squares inside that rectangle.

The same principle goes for cubic feet.
If you have a sphere and you want to know how many 1 foot cubes fit inside the sphere, you use a formula to get the volume of the sphere.

Hope that made sense.

Imagine yourself drawing a line one foot long along the edge of a piece of paper. That is the "regular foot" you referred to.
Now imagine yourself drawing three more such lines in a pattern that forms a square on this piece of paper. you are looking at a square that measures one foot toward and away from you and measures one foot from right to left. that's a square foot.
Now imagine that you can magically make a block of, say, wood grow up from the boundaries of this square foot and become one foot in height. you are now looking at a cube with a volume of one cubic foot.

square foot is flat or 2-d... a foot long and a foot wide (like tiles on a floor). cubic foot is 3-d 1 foot tall 1 foot wide and 1 foot in depth, like a cube or a square box you can put stuff in..hope this helps :)

square foot is the area of a square with sides of 1 foot. you find the area of a square by multiplying length by width and the result is always squared. cubic foot is the volume of a cube with sides of 1 foot. so yes they are different.
hope that helped.
good luck!

Square foot is the unit to measure area and cubic foot is to measure volume. Ex: area of a rectangular box with length 'l' feet and breadth 'b' feet is l x b square feet. Volume of box with rectangular base with height 'h' feet is l x b x h cubic feet. Regular foot is used to measure linear distances.

A square foot is just a square whose sides are each 1 foot long.
An example: One side of an 8.5"x11" piece of paper has 0.6493 square feet of area.

A cubic foot is just a cube whose sides are each 1 foot long.
An example: One cubic foot of fresh water weighs 62.4 pounds.

square feet are like the lenght and width like a 12 x 12 square..

but cubic feet also take height into consideration so it'd be 12x12x12.. hope that helps

so cubic would be to measure space in the room
and square would be to measure the floor like to lay carpet .. good luck
