Simple answer... yes.
The majority can be found and most well known can be found in non-human primates (non-human strains... AIDS, herpes, syphilis, etc).
More or less most of the diseases work and are transmitted the same throughout the same species, when things change is how it bounces between species. Also though say cats for example can get HIV (FIV) it is a different strain of the disease.
A odd non sexual disease that is showing up in animals.... a strain of the human papilloma virus is appearing in manatees. They are not sure how it started or how they pass it between manatees... it is an odd thing.

Mutations of existing diseases. There have always been viruses. Some serve a purpose. But when Adam and Eve sinned God took his protection away from them. They were no longer immune to the diseases. Animals carry a lot of viruses and diseases and the animals were never protected from dying. God did not offer them eternal life. They grew old and died. Some from diseases. That is why God gave so many laws about how to handle meat and what animals to eat. God does not cause people to get sick. It happens because of Adam and Eve's inherited sins. Soon God will take back rule of the earth from Satan and mankind. He will restore the earth to the paradise he intended it to be in the first place. Then there will be no more sickness, pain or death. Rev. 21:4

The animal world is not perfect harmony. Animals get all kinds of diseases including STDs. Thats why few animals live potential lifespans in the wild. Sickness and death is rampant.

Maybe not the same way as humans, but in the professional breeding world animals are tested before breeding for a variety of contagious diseases that can be spread by close contact/fluid exchange.

I have heard that cats can get a feline type of AIDS plus there are other types of diseases that animals can get from other animals as well as from people. Poodles have been known to get pneumonia from people. For information on diseases that are contagious to animals check with your local vet or go on line to animal planet channel and see what you can find out.

Yes they do. I have a friend who is the head of the ASPCA in NY and he tld me that cats have a virus that is called the SIV virus that acts in cats like the HIV in humans. He also said that the medicines cost just as much. so My cat does not go out tramping like he wants to.
