That all depends on whether humans begin giving a care about everything. As of right now, most are more interested in what little brats like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are doing than they are in the state of the world.
I'm of the personal opinion that the world will continue to go downhill. (I'm a pessimist, but I'm kind of hoping that people will step up to the plate and prove me wrong.)

Better or worse?? Well, that depends on where one lives on the planet. If you are one of the privileged billion or so people life will be about the same, perhaps a little worse. If you are one of the several billion in the underprivileged group things will get more difficult. I am an optimist, so I truly hope my prediction is wrong.
The world could be a much better place for everyone if there was the political will to make it better. There is enough food to feed the world, enough medicine to heal the world and there are enough teachers to educate the world. What's in the way? Multi-billion arms deals, unfettered globalization that destroys local and regional economies, ignorant and arrogant leaders whose most important mission in life is re-election or holding on to power using force and intimidation.
What will make the world a better place? A radical redistribution of wealth and political power. People in Canada, U.S., France, Germany, etc. need to understand that the people of Iraq, Bangladesh, Mali and Haiti are our equals, not our burdens. What will make the world a worse place? The status quo.

From a biblical view, far worse. Afterward, will come one last calm before the final storm. It is said that the governments of the world will achieve a brief moment of "peace and security", and then the end will come. Lets see if this happens on our watch.

I truly believe it depends on how the US handles the current state of affairs. If we don't improve our election of presidents, then the world will not be a better place.

Depends how well the next president unravels the damage done by Bush. We can't continue in this direction. Also, the Iraq war has to end.

more people probably means worse, but the world may one day be forced to change to survive.
The U.N. could help, it the U.S. was not so selfish.

Bush has done so much damage, it will take at least 25 years years for things to get much better.
