**update** I've linked to a discussion forum at Tom's Hardware about this very issue. Some people are insisting that Dell is understating the capacity of their power supplies, others say they've been able to run cards like the 8800GTS and Radeon X1900 on the stock 375W.

Well, I've heard rumors that Dell power supplies perform a little better than their wattage rating, so this might be such a case. For video cards the 12V rail is what matters, so maybe the 375W Dell psu performs closer to a 450W standard one? I wouldn't count on that, though- I had to to upgrade my 305W Dell power supply to run a 7900GT.

It's also possible that Dell automatically upgrades the psu when someone orders the 8800GTX build, and that's just not reflected on the page. I'd ask them whether this is true... Then you could order the standard build and upgrade on your own :)

Certainly any psu that can handle a 8800GTX 768mb, can handle the less-demanding 8800GTS.

Here's a site that sells Dell psu upgrades (silencer series):

that Watts in a PC refer to the power supplied by the power supply to all the components of the PC. Hard drive takes some watts, memory, CPU all take some watts (power). Your graphics card also needs some power, but the numbers: 8800 (family of card) and 768MB (memory size of the card) have no relation to the watts consumed. The Graphics card itself will tell you how many watts it will consume.

it relies upon. how many pci-x 2.0 slots does it have if any? i only offered a XFX GeForce 9800gtx+ for about $one hundred. and that i'm able to play crysis on medium and a few extreme settings. the GeForce GTX 295 will play cod waw at over 70 fps way extra beneficial than what you're able to in all probability use.
