I don't know that your statement can be correct 100% of the time.

So you are going threw some problems, maybe when you look at someone else going threw the same thing and how they are handling the situation this may enable you to understand your problem and the area that needs correction or whatever.

When you are faced with a situation you can't stay as objective as if you are helping a friend facing the same problem. Because you are affected emotionaly, sometimes, or affected physically, which leads to emotional growth or represion.(feeling sorry for yourself)

It is always good therapy to share your accomplishments in overcoming a problem you may help someone else in the outcome.

Platitudes are, for the most part, bogus. We often see more clearly in others the faults that we ourselves possess (although we may not admit it). In this instance, giving good advice to someone else is really a form of giving good advice to yourself. It's just too bad that they might take the advice when we ourselves ignore it.

no i don't think that's totally true. a lot of times we can give terrific advice to others on situations we can't or won't solve for ourselves. you can't love someone else unless you love yourself, yeah i think that one is much more true.
