I have to travel from Revere to Winthrop (5 miles) and I wanted to know how much that would normally cost. I've never ridden in a cab so I'm clueless.

$1.75 for the first 1/8th mile or less
$0.30 for each additional 1/8th of a mile

so if my math is right...that would be 13.75 and i've never been ina taxi either but i've heard you should tip..so keep that in mind as well.

this is posted on the city government's website. i'm not from boston, but i plan on moving there so i looked up a bunch of stuff. the website has more information but this seemed closest to what you were looking for...

It depends on what cab company you are using. Generally they will charge a minimum to start, and then an additional fee for every 1/4 of a mile. I would guess it's going to be around $25, but that's just an estimate.

Honestly, avoid taxi's in Boston! The service is questionable and the fares high. Just take the MBTA (Metro Boston Transit Authority) they have several bus and subway routes serving that area for much less cost and stress.

Not to be blunt/stupid/mean/useless answer, but expensive. Taxi fares in and out and around Boston are sky high.
