Question

What am I doing wrong in this problems...
3.6 divided by 1.5 and 0.36 divided by 0.15
I know the answer is 2.4 but I'm getting 2.6

3.6/1.5=2.4
Move the decimal point in the divisor all the way to the right (to make it a whole number) and then move the decimal point in the dividend the same number of places.
36/15 = 2.4 Decimals get moved one place to the right
15 * 2 = 30
36 - 30 = 6 You still have to finish working from here, you need to make your divisor go into the dividend again so you add a 0 on to the 6 that got from 36-30 and you have 60
15 * 4 = 60 so now you have 24 as your answer and you move your decimal point back to the left once to put it back as it was and you have 2.4.

Imagine like you have no (.) just 36 and 15

36 /_15__

15x2=30 and 36-30=6

6 is not divisible by 15 so add a 0. It becomes 60 and add a (.) to the cotient which is 2

now divide 60 by 15 which is 4

actually, there is nothing wrong with the problem.
but there is something wrong on how you compute it.

3.6 / 1.5 = 2.4

if you are computing manually...
move both the decimal points(3.6 and 1.5) 1x to the right.
so you will have 36/15
the answer is 2.
put a decimal point beside it then bring down 60.
60/15 = 4

so you will have 2.4

36/15 and you obtain 2.4

0.36/0.15 as above but you multiply by100 and same answer
