In particular, I'm trying to get background information showing:
- how many republican vs democrats are on or have been on welfare
- state by state breakdowns of welfare recipients
- the green party/Ralph Nader/Libertarian Party stances and voting records on welfare
Also, are welfare recipients ever checked for drug usage, why or why not?

The federal government keeps great stats on many programs. By the way, there are about 50 Democrats for every welfare recipient, and, same applys to Republicans.

The Internet would be my choice as this will require a good bit of research. Yes...in some instances welfare recipients are drug tested.

Federal websites are your best bet for one source --

But actually, find several different polls -- and all polls are going to have some bias, just in how the questions are phrase and who gets asked. Find several polls and generated a weighted average of the numbers. That will get you the closest to a statistically accurate values.

you should worry more about Bush's corpoarte billions in welfare than a few uneducated urban poor getting a paltry 300 a month...seriously...get a grip
