Would you like to see him break the record, as well?

You took the time to answer, and I thank you all, each of you.

Because of your time and caring, I want to address each of you. (I have to do it before BA, because there's no space there.)

k_l_z24 and Michael M: Your answers were sweet, direct and right on! Thank you.

The steroid thing could prob be a whole other Y!A question. When you're playing poker, and you know a lot of the other players have five Aces, after awhile, you just might go out and buy yourself another Ace--and I'm not saying he did it, but it's competitive, and the scales have to be balanced. I think Bonds was picked on, because he's the best. Let's not forget: Innocent till PROVEN guilty.... Baseball is all-American; let's apply some all-American laws to this situation.

Garrett, thank you. Hank Aaron was "classy," but then players in those days weren't living in the era of post-Regan GREED where bottom line means all, and players weren't traded like today for the BUCKS---

the way they are today. U.S. people as a whole society were not money/above all people. Let's face it, Garrett, I think the money for the kids was his being sarcastic. He's been better for baseball, than baseball's been to him, and I can't blame the guy for a bit of "getting even." Some people might have been broken by the kind of treatment he consistently gets and got!

Frizzer, Bravo, right on. He deserves the credit, and let's keep rooting for talent and hard work! I'm with you. Thanks for your answer.

Good for you! I'm with you. It's hard to take the "high road," when people are beating down n you. No athlete or performer wants to get out there and do his/her thing, while the whole time feeling unappreciated. Great insight!

pugs: well, you're to the point; I'm sorry you're so angry.

Very original. Never would have thought of that. I'm from a generation in which we loved our TEAMS, but we knew and loved our players, too. That's hard today....

because the players go from team to team to team--so what's a team, a name? a logo? With players changing all the time, I don't get the sense of team; it's hollow to me.

I love your true fan loyalty! Babe Ruth had it tough in some ways, and he made it tough for himself. If people think Bonds is arrogant or ornery, wow, Ruth had them all beat in those categories.
Thanks for your answer, written like a true, passionate bb fan! (Even if a Yankee fan--lol)

I agree with you. It is alleged! And it's unfair to judge, as if there'd been a conviction. As for Babe Ruth, two wrongs don't a right make, so let's not go there. And I agree about Josh Gibson and the whole ***** league (why an asterisk, I wonder, though???); if I had my way, we'd do restitution to all the greats of the ***** league by re-doing all the stats and records to include their talents and achievements and bringing them into the HOF.

Never forget a scandal is just a scandal.
I live in Hollywood, and let me say what working out can do, and I mean without steroids! It's amazing! Gold's is down the street. Bodies have been incredibly changed for a zillion years from pure working out.
Also, let us know that BB is a great enough sport that no single man could ruin it.
Until proven guilty, let a person go innocent. But, thanks for caring and for answering.

im happy and im looking forward to when he breaks the record. i dont care what other people say about him. steroids or not, he is still the greatest player of all time. how many people can do what he can on steroids? how many people can hit that many HRs playing in such a big yard like AT&T? how many people can hit that many HRs when being walked thousands of time? nobody gets walked intentionally as bonds does, which proves he is still the most feared hitter today.

Why should I be happy for a cheating ******? I would like to say in response to the person that thinks that Babe Ruth should have an asterisk next to his name. I strongly disagree with that statement. That is because it wasn't Ruth's fault the Black players weren't allowed in the Major's during Ruth's time. even if they were, Ruth would still be great. There wasn't an asterisk next to Babe's name then, why should there be now? The Babe would have still been great no matter who was on the mound. It is nothing short of insane that people think that Ruth's stats should be questioned, when it shouldn't be disputed at all. I am 100% sure that people who make that stament, are Bonds fans. Nobody said that Ruth should have an asterisk before Bonds challenged the record, so that is proof right there that the likelihood of the statement being true, is the same likelihood of the statement that Pamela Anderson is still a virgin. The statement that Ruth should have an asterisk next to his name is nothing short of b.s. How can a real baseball fan that questions Ruth's accomplishments be a real baseball fan? They aren't. Ruth earned his stats, I don't care what anyone says. Questioning Ruth's place in baseball? Don't make me laugh.

This was a career long effort by Bonds and an unbelievable accomplishment, he should be given all the credit he deserves for reaching this milestone. By the way, I am not a Giants or Bonds fan but I am a baseball fan and have the ability to recognize a great accomplishment.

I was very happy for the man he has gone though a lot of BS because he allegedly took steroids and now they want to put a asterisk by his name and that is BS to.

They should put a asterisk by Babe Ruth's name because when he played baseball they didn't allow Black or other minorities to play in MLB it was for White's only, so put an asterisk by his name to.

People forget about Josh Gibson he hit over 800 Home Runs in the ***** league and no one says a word about him why is he not on the home runs list (because he was in the ***** League) he should have a asterisk by his name to.

Well I have mixed feelings. The basball fan inside of me says " Wow Barry Bonds is going to break the Homerun Record that is awesome." But the person inside of me says" Man Barroid Bonds I can't believe a cheater is going to beat Hank Aaron's record. That ain't cool." So yeah thats how I feel about it.

2007-08-05 12:47:29 · answer #5 · answered by Anonymous · 1 1

He did tie the 755 record but when they write it in the history book I hope they add a footnote about the 'roids scandal also involved with his ti-tanic record.

ps. Hammering Hank did it without steroids

Hank Aaron was classy, Bonds has been mean about it.
All he promises to donate to the HOF is his helmet!
Not the bat, glove, jersey, pants, cleats, socks, gum or ANYTHING else.
And do you know why?
He says he is going to sell it because he doesnt have enough money to send his kids to college!
he is making 20 mil a year for christs sake!

it just disappointing that the new record will have an asterik next to it for several years.

First of all barry is a disgrace he changed too much to not do steriods so he runied the name of baseball and the great players that made it great

2007-08-05 19:39:14 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

No, everyone outside of San Fransisco thinks that. He used performance enhancing steroids he shouldn't even be considered for the record. Hank Aaron got all those home-runs because he was talented, not because he was gigantic from steroids.
