Yes it is. Its destructive period. Ideals of a democracy arise from people who have a common goal to preserve freedom for themselves, as a group. Any one minority group feeling they must protect it from a demonized perceived threat, is actually viewing those ideals as incompatible with their own beliefs.
If democracy is truly threatened the majority, will rise up to protect their freedom, whether they have to do it behind the ballot box, or behind the barrel of a gun.
No matter how you look at it, democracy is not protected by preemptive strikes on other countries.
To preserve democracy, you must look inward, not outward, and reinforce it by utilizing your right to vote, and question your government.
