Long time ago - it WAS great.
Leonardo diCaprio was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but did not win. He did win 'Most Promising Actor' from the Chicago Film Critics Assoc & 'Best Supporting Actor' from the National Board of Review and the film won 'Best Foreign Film' from the Guild of German Art House Cinemas.

I do not believe in won any major awards, although Leo DiCaprio was nominated for an Oscar for his work, but like I said he did not win. I believe that no one else was nominated for an Oscar in either a directing, screenwriting, adapting, costume, or acting capacity.
Also the book was based on the book of the same name written by Peter Hedges, so you should check that out, as it was written before the movie was even made. And as is usually the case with books, the movie is not quite as good.
Your library should have a copy so you can check it out for free. Or if you want to buy one cheap check ebay.

I don't know anything about it winning awards, but this movie was really awesome. Leonardo is actually good at this role and of course Depp is amazing. It's definitely a girl movie because the parts that make girls cry would make guys just roll their eyes and turn it off. But if it's the right audience, I really recommend it.

Yes I've seen it and I enjoyed it, it was a funny movie in some parts but it really made me cry when their mother passed away.

i loved it. one of the only movies i liked leonardo dicaprio in. it was such a good movie about love and family all the things we give up for them to be happy. one of my favorties

I absolutely love that movie! I haven't seen it in forever......hmm i should watch it again lol..... idk if it won any awards...
