I think these might be the deals that might be done after this seanson:
Yankees- would receive Johan Santana for Melky Cabrera, Joba Chamberlian, and Eric Duncan. That might work.
Mets-would receive Johan Santana for Carlos Gomez, Philip Humber, and maybe some one like Mike Pelfrey.
Twins- could keep him for 5yrs around a 120 million dollar extension and promise that they would try to win.
Sleeper Team: Tampa Bay- if they really have a change in philosophy(which would they would not do unless I was GM lol) but I would do Delmon Young, Roco Baldelli, and a good prospect. That's just a thought.
So which one would be the best or if you have better deals, share it with me.

If I were Santana I would do everything in my power to stay in Minnesota for as long as I could. In recent memory there have been a lot of players who pitched amazingly for a team then left to get big money elsewhere and they haven't pitched well since.
Oakland had 3 amazing pitchers in Mulder, Hudson and Zito....since the three have left, what have any of them done? Mulder has gone 22-15 with a 4.74 ERA and is currently on the 60 day DL since moving to St. Louis. Zito has gone 8-10 with a 5.12 ERA since going to San Fransisco and Hudson struggled in his first 2 years with Atlanta.
Anyone remember Javier Vazquez? Guy was lights out in Montreal, then fell apart when he went to New York, didn't do much better in Arizona or in his first season with the White Sox.
Yes, there are exceptions, but pitchers don't normally do well when moving from a small market to a big market.

As great as a pitcher that he is, the Yankees wont trade for Santana. Melky is the centerfielder of the future, and with the emergence of Cano, Hughes etc... I dont think the Yanks are willing to just trade away prospects like they have done in the past. I would love to have Santana on the Yanks staff, but they would give up a lot of the future in order to do so..

The only way Santana gets dealt away after this season is if he's a hold out. He's signed through 08 for "good" money, but he prolly won't stick around after next season. I can see the Twins just letting him go after next year since he'll be asking for 20mil or so. A trade into next season is possible, but it would be a horrible mid-season pr mistake for the Twins with a new stadium coming and a good team that could still be in the playoffs. MLB needs a salary basement so the owners can't put crap on the field anymore!!! (DevilRays, Royals,Pirates,Marlins)

Realistically thinking, the Yankees and Red Sox are the only ones that could afford his salary. Your deal would not work for the Yankees because they are not giving up their Centerfielder of the future. Melky is too important and they are now starting to realize that home grown talent is better than spending all your money on washed up players. Forget Tampa Bay and the Mets would be a real underdog. I see him going to the Yanks as a free Agent. They have the loot.

I believe the Twins will be willing to let Hunter go so they have the money to sign Santana. They would take too big of a hit with the fans if they don't sign Santana. Management would be telling the fans that they are really not interested in putting together a winning team for them.

Twins have to resign him! Not doing so would be a PR hit that they can't have moving into their new stadium!
Yankess anything is possible with them, they seem to be undergoing a change in philosophy after the way things started for them (they have very good young prospects they want to hand on to, that is why not real trades for them!)
TB no chance on Earth! 1. no $$$ in TB and 2. the team is terrible!
