Because admitting that they are wrong is an admission that they are not perfect. I am the first one to admit I'm wrong and it really makes people mad. It's also a grim satisfaction I get knowing that I can do it and they refuse to.

Insecurity, I think. For some people, admitting that they are wrong about something is admitting that they aren't perfect. Some people can't deal with that.

Wow, what a fabulous bunch of answers. I can truly say that you guys and gals have helped me to see myself better.
Oopps, oh, the answers were for the person who wrote the question, OH well. In a spiritual sense saying I'm sorry or admiting you were wrong is a way of asking for forgivness.
We all fall short and need forgiveness for being human.

The simplest way of explaining this is when a person is confronted by the idea of losing face in front of anyone they tend to find it easier to ignore than to admit.

It really takes maturity and a lot of honesty to admit :)

Overinflated sense of ego or a complete lack of self esteem. Funny that both can result in the same behaviours.

Pride. Pride is one of the seven deadly sins in the satanic Bible, beleive it or not. I'm not satanic, but read the book out of curiousty as a youngin. Yea, that book is dangerous, don't mess with it.

it's considered a sign of weakness. they were probavly raised in a household that they were taught to never be weak. never cry, never do anything that is normal. these are people who most need to be shown and helped that it is only human and that it is okay to show emotions .they need to kow that it is okay and nothing to be ashamed of. it takes time and effort brcause these same people also do not know how to trust.
