Locusts in MA?

I found what closely resembles and may be a "Green Tree Locust". I live in Springfield MA. Is this a bad sign, or do they inhabit this area?

That is most likely a cicada if it is giant and ugly. Otherwise it could be a grasshopper if it has long hopping legs and spits brown juice.
