Oh yes. My best friend who I basically did everything possible for including supporting threw a bad relationship, giving money, sitting in the delivery room, living with me so on decided the week of my wedding she no longer wanted to come to my wedding out of jealousy. Her relationship was bad and she was having yet another baby by this guy and I was happy and getting married which to be honest I wasn't very happy. My dog had died and the entire week had been a nightmare and the one time I needed her to come to my aid she basically told me I was a bad friend (excuse me?) and I haven't spoken to her since ...

Unfortunately :-( He was a friend of mine for 24 years & we are no longer friends. What he let me down on was of GREAT magnitude. That is all I can say......

Only friends have the power to let us down.
Because we trust them, we believe in them and any wrong from them gives us pain.
If they are not friends but just aquaintances , they cannot let us down because we don't depend emotionally on them.

Only those to whom we give power with our love, have the power to let us down.

Yeah, people whom I thought were my friends.
My real friends never have.

edit
I think that true friendships are just so unconditional that disappointment just isn't an option.
