Check the state labor laws carefully. In New York, you have to get a lunch break after six hours. HOWEVER, there are a whole bunch of exceptions, depending on the job the person does. For instance, I don't care what state you live in, I'll bet someone who works a drawbridge gets paid for a lunch that s/he must take while remaining on duty. Like I said, read the state labor laws carefully.

I believe Federal& State Laws require 2 15 min breaks duirng an 8 hour work period.
Your friend should call the State Labor Board where he resides. Alos doesn't he ever have to take a leak or a Dump?
hell it takes me a minimum of 15mins to drop one thru the uprights. What the Boss going to yank him off the Bowl?
You left out one thing, Is your friend an illegal alien working there?
If so, The Hell w/ him he doesn't belong working there in the 1st Place

YES IT IS. They must get 10 minutes every 2 hours, AND 30 minutes every 6 hours. That is the federal minimum. Texas cannot go below that standard.

Most companies expect 8 hours of work. So your hours would be for example 8-5 with one hour lunch.

Unfortunately Texas is one of the few states that doesn't require employers to give employees breaks of any kind throughout the day.

It’s a federal law to have breaks. Or does your friend like being a slave? I learned in grade school we get breaks, what did they teach you two in school?
Why doesn't your friend call the local labor department and complain? If he doesn't they he accepts be treated like a slave. My god, go to the department of labor web site and read the federal law for yourself. Even Texas state laws requires breaks go to their web site and read up on it.
