Tru or false: after expiration of initial 10 days of subscription to yahoo/dsl, the dsl speed drops?

I switched from cable to yahoo dsl two days ago and speed is definitely faster than cable, but someone told me that after 10 days provider will choke speed down. That initial speed is set high to get one hooked and not to cancel during probation period.
