hi, when someone is drunk and saying very hurtfull things to you that they wouldnt say when their sober, is this the truth comming out or is it just drunk talk ?

I had a similar situation with my husband. He would get wasted off hard liquer and all I would have to do is say one little thing and he would go off. He never hit me or anything just would say cruel things. This has happened twice in my marriage and the last time he woke up with my wedding rings on the counter. My understanding of it is, he just wanted to hurt me because he thought I said something mean to him. I tried not to take it to heart. Needless to say we are still together and he has not touched alcohol since. I basically told him that was the last time. He did truely feel bad and now we have agreed to put it all in the past. But, he knows one more time and I am gone. I would honestly sit down and talk to him and let him know that it will not be tolerated. I know just after the first time my self-esteem was so low and it messed me up for a while. It's not healthy so, if he don't understand make him and if he refuses leave him. GOOD LUCK!!! It's drunk talk. If alcohol were a truth serum, the CIA would have a much easier time of it. That doesn't mean you should keep hanging around somebody like that, though.

It's probably the truth. Alcohol relaxes you and gives you some sort of strange confidence to say what you really feel.
However, always leave room for the other possibility
