What I used to do with my Estes rockets was to add a tablespoon of colored chalk (from marking string)... when the ejection charge went off, that would provide clear marking of the APOGEE...

I then added a small streamer to the TOP of the parachute in neon color to increase the visibility. And painted the rocket itself in neown colors or white... to contrast with the ground or trees.

Of course, the simplest thing is to launch in a VERY large field to avoid the trees !

Good Luck and Be Safe

Just hope for the best, there really isn't anything special you can do to help find it. It's best to launch it in a large open area to minimize the chance of losing it. If it ends up going into the woods there is a large chance it will end up caught in the branches with the parachute (or streamer depending on the type).

You could just some paint tubes to it so it leaves a mark on the ground while it flies and you can just about find where it went. If you wanted to be technical you could just use a math formula to where its location may be with the height and the land your working with.

Paint it a bright color such as yellow, orange, or pink. That way it will not blend in with the foliage of the woods.

there used to be an attachment people could get for their keys (for those who kept loosing them) it was attached to the keyring and when you whistled it would whistle back .............. you could also get them for mobile phones these ones would also light up. ....... I did a search and came up with a source if you searched on "Key Finder" you can see other sources
