Any man I've ever cooked for has been happy with anything I've given him. I rarely serve rolls, but if I do, they're mostly store bought, whether from the grocery store or bakery. It's very rare that I will bake. Baking is not my strong suit.

Allow????? Seriously...... allow???
I kinda like to think that in today's world, a man would be appreciative that someone who is probably just as busy as he is in this working woman's world yet could still take the time to make dinner, therefore, he would anything but care if the rolls were store bought or homemade. IN FACT... I think most men in today's world would never expect homemade from the woman whose working hours were probably longer than his. Yet...... if he so desperately wanted homemade rolls, let's so pray that he has the ability to make them as well.

If the person I was with 'allowed' me to do anything regarding dinner, then that person could just make it them self. One. Two, do you realize what time you and rest of us are living in? A time where people don't have time to make their own rolls, unless it's their job. A time to save time, so you might have time, to sit, eat, and talk at your family table

As a good and respectable wife, I make sure to make a new custom made pillow for my husband at least twice a year. My sewing machine is always in perfect shape for this occasion and I always make absolutely sure that the materials and dimensions are just right. After all, it is my responsibility and I have to make sure his time in bed is well spent so he can get up and go to work happy to be earning money for us! Hahahaha

I think you should reword that,,,the word "allow" is really outdated...In this day and age he should be lucky to get a dinner that hasn't been frozen.
We do have a bakery that makes "homemade" rolls..and he could stop on his way home if he really craved them...
Ellie L...do you really darn sox?

I allow my man to serve my dinner with store bought rolls and if he really wanted to I wouldn't object to him baking some. :)

By the time I have looked after our eight children for the day, all under nine, after all we are big breeders and you wanted a LOT of children, love,
Because I am pregnant, this time with twins the doc tells me, I am tired but if I can, of course you will have home made rolls. After I have tended the kids. After I have taken them back and forth to sports practice and little Suzy to her sewing class.
Then I raced home and tidied up the house so it would look like none of us had lived in it all day so you would not know how REAL life at home is while you work in the office. It is hard because little Rudy and Tommy have the trots and their nappies are constantly overflowing with... stuff. Silvester is teething and little Maryann is coming down with a cold.
By the time you get home, the house is spotless, the children are occupied with their homework and I am helping of course as I prepare our meal. From scratch of course.
Preparations done, I pop into the shower to be kissing sweet for you when you come in the door and I put on a lovely little dress to please you. The one with the long zipper down the front for easy access. You know the one...
I greet you at the door on my knees, my hair unbound. You enter the house, I bend to remove your muddy boots and wipe your feet clean with my hair, of course! True and fitting worship and humility don't you think? Ooops did I forget to go between that pair of toes again? Sorry Master, I will do better next time.
When you walk in the door, the house is clean, the kids settled at the table eager for daddy to come so they can eat. You sit at the table... and I serve dinner... YOU I bring your food, on my knees of course, Master. I pray the food pleases you. I did not even burn the pot roast! The children all eagerly watch you take your first bite, praying that you approve!
Finally everyone is served. It is kind of you to allow me to sit at the table tonight Master. Normally I am in the kitchen working and only eat after the kids are in bed and the kitchen tidied up to YOUR level of approval.
But of course, you are the man, that is how it should be, right?
Dang, I forgot the rolls!

He'll take either or. He doesn't care. I like to try and make things homemade when I can though. It's kinda fun.
