Environmentalists who are Liberals, care more for a tree, and plants, than a growing cell from a woman's womb. Why is that? Why is it okay to let a growing human-being die, but preserve a tree? Do Liberals need that much shade from the SON? (sun)?

Pardon folks. One of you didn't read the question correctly. I never said anything about a cell being a baby before it is born. However, a cell is a GROWING baby. Tell me that is a lie, if you can?

Noah H? Is it not so that a tree grows from cells, the same as a human-being? Are we not all made up of cells? I WANT to know why people think destroying human cells is okay, but not plant cells? Can I be more clear?????? Let me know, eh?

Honestly, is this what you spend your time of this forum for? Looking for people to back up your opinions with agreement? You might as well ask "Why do liberals oppose our divinely inspired president in the extremely well managed War in Iraq and why do they also hate freedom?" I'm not opposed to debate on either the death penalty or abortion, but your question is so slanted that it leaves no room for debate. It also makes sweeping assumptions that are not entirely accurate; that is, unless you lump all people who disagree with your viewpoints into the category of "liberal." What exactly does that word mean to you? Are you talking about the notion of state's rights vs. federal rights, or are you talking about the culture wars? Big "L" or little "l." On to your specific question, which I will rephrase for you: "Why do some people support abortion and oppose the death penalty?" See..isn't that better? At lease you can appear to be curious about learning the opinions of the opposition. Many people who are pro-choice believe that life begins at birth, or at the very least, once a fetus has formed a brain. This is why your birthday is the day of your birth, not the day of your conception. Check your driver's license, I promise it's true. Additionally, not everyone has religious and spiritual convictions to support their decision making process. They are the type of people who don't buy into the idea of belief without evidence. In any case, they probably don't consider a fertilized egg to be a "baby." Some people do not support the death penalty because they know that the justice system if fallible and mistakes are sometimes made. Executing the wrong guy is a mistake that can't be undone. If you mistakenly believe that the justice system is perfect, I invite you to look at the number of death row inmates released after the propagation of DNA evidence. Many, many people have been falsely imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. Also, some people (even some religious people) don't support the death penalty on moral grounds. My close friend is very anti-abortion, but he's also anti death penalty for the same reason. As for priorities, perhaps you should consider your own. Culture war issues are issues that your elected leaders don't really care about. They only give them lip service to win votes. The truth is, the wealthy have always been able to buy their way out of social issues. If their daughter gets knocked up, they can send her to Sweden to get the abortion. If the public schools suck, they can send their children to private schools. The only political platforms that matter are National Defense, The Economy, Taxation Reform, Campaign Finance Reform, and Education. That's it. Not abortion (the law of the land, by the way), not prayer in schools, not gays getting married. Good luck and God Bless.

Aaah, Grasshopper...you have articulated a classic false choice. The tree and the 'cells' are two different things. One has nothing to do with the other. Also, the 'liberal' is a propaganda term...there is no such a critter. It's what in the science of logic is called a 'strawman'. If you recall the novel 1984, Big Brother's sworn enemy was Emmanual Goldstein....a personage that was always plotting against Big Brother and who was capable of any crime or act that the Ministry of Truth accused him of. Every argument has to stand on its own merits and the propositions offered have to add up to a logical, and truthful conclusion. If you say 'environmentalists' are 'liberals', then it must follow that all 'liberals' are 'environmentalists'. But since the 'liberal' is a non-existant entity, you logic can't be substained.

It's people like you who make me ashamed to be a Republican.

First off, it's not a baby until it's out of the womb, so the "Liberals" (and more than a few true Republicans) aren't supporting the killing of babies. Call it what it really is. Zygote. Blastocyst. And, later in the pregnancy, a fetus. It is not a baby until it is independent of the mother. Before that, it scientifically is a parasite (it takes from the host/mother, and returns nothing to the host system).

And while a lot of environmentalists may be Liberals, not all are. There are plenty of Conservatives who believe in preserving our environment, although not to the degree organizations such as the Earth Liberation Front do (which is also an FBI-certified domestic terrorist group).

Don't go spewing your extreme-right wing religious whacko rhetoric...we don't want to hear it. You're a disgrace to the Republican party and the true Conservatives you NeoConservatives leached your name from. And don't over-generalize and use steriotypes like the Liberals do...you're no better than them with your name calling and mudflinging.

Those two have nothing to do with each other. A fertilized cell is hardly a 'baby' or a human life, it is no more a life than a cancerous growth. It however has the potential to become a human life, but then again so does sperm and many people masturbate.

If you want to compare a tree to a human life compare it to one that already is one, an adult or even a baby but don't compare it to a fertilized cell because a cell is just that, a cell.

Wow, a well thought out well presented question/rant.

Well here is my response, I am a mature Christian green liberal that is against abortion and for protecting the earth. I am pro life that is why I oppose the bush jr administration. I oppose the stripping of my constitutional civil liberties and I oppose the corporate greed that this administration protects. It is clear that corporate america is more important than the American People to this rogue regime.

Here are some scriptures for you: Ephesians 5:6-7, Proverbs 19:17

Ah, yet another nonsensical attack from the frustrated right fringe. This is like asking why Republicans would rather pay for bombs than health care. I'm sure you would sputter that that's not an accurate portrayal of conservative attitudes. Well, duh.

The majority of Americans believe that as problematic as abortion is, a woman's right to control her body is more important. You may disagree, but unless you address that point, you'll get nowhere in influencing anyone.

The majority of Americans also believe that it's important to protect the natural enviornment in which we all live, and to leave a liveable planet for our children. Who could possibly object to that? Well, apparently Republicans do.

Turn your question around. Are you really willing to say that it's ok to to destroy the environment, and that we should do nothing to protect it, because it's legal for a woman to get an abortion? How does that make any sense at all?

The decision of whether a woman has an abortion or not only affects the people directly involved in the decision. The degradation of the environment affects everyone. Your logic in trying to connect the two is fundamentally flawed.

Great question!

Yes, Liberals care more about their worldly possessions than they do a human life!

Liberals do not believe in life, they believe it is a "blob of cells", a "mass of tissue," So sad.

I think more or less ties in to the fact that they would rather put more emphasis on their promiscuous lifestyle, in other words they care more about sex than they do about innocent life.

I have news for them, Jesus said 'Now choose life, so that thee and thy children may live.'

In most instances of Abortion; women have become drug addicted, suicidal, alcoholics, because of the horrible decision that they made, YET, the Pr-Abort(Pro-Murder) crowd totally ignore their cries for help, and continue in an attempt to carry out genocide on the unborn. Such a PITY!

Here are some sites that I recommend to all that are Pro-Life, and PLEASE pass them on to others on your list, so they too may know the horrific BARBARITY of the practice known as Abortion -
