intel's pecking order on date
i. core 2 duo
ii. core duo
iii. pentium dual core
iv. celeron m

so the celeron m lies at the very bottom of intel's ladder
& the core 2 duo at the very top

also, i do not find any celeron m with clock speed of 2.4 ghz
http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/celeron_m.htm

key word for performance is ipc or instructions per cycle
so out goes the clock speed factor

just to give you a better understanding, different laptop processors are compared or benchmarked,
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html
you will find the mobile celerons at the bottom of the list

edit:
just a note of correction for a few of the answerers above me:
the celeron m never had it's glorious days
it was in the shadows of the pentium m earlier

Intel Core Duo 2 processor (1.86 Ghz)

Attach good bussing architecture to the intel duo and it is a better processor.

I run a g5 MAC for professional uses (graphics and audio) and it can really chew the data, and run a lot of programs simultaneously without slowing down much.

However, I've noticed that if I'm just running a single application with my PC, it seems faster.

But again, that's really more a matter of the architecture than the processing.

intel core 2 duo. it has a much larger cache, and higher fsb. even though the celeron m has a higher clock speed, it is much slower then the intel core 2 duo. get the c2d.

core 2 duo
it will out run the m based since it's a celeron and has much slower cache / smaller cache and slower fsb
the price difference is just not worth going for the cheaper cpu

M it runs better speed but inter core duo 2 is better for computer overload
eg:
on M 5 windows is enuf to be open.
on duo 2 25 windows is enuf to be open
