i've had both and i say black and red for several reasons, 1, the purple dye never stayed as vibrant as the red and i tried 4 different kinds, 2, the red is very dramatic against the black, and 3, red goes with way more things than purple, plus i wore lipstick to match, and red stays on way better than purple, reds are made way better as they are more popular! there loads of reasons for the red, good luck
