i don't understand where is the space that they are talking about? is it the a stich or underneath a stich or what? If anyone knows of a website that might have an illustration that might be helpful to actually SEE where this ch-1sp is might be easier to understand. thanks

A "chain-1 space" (ch-1 sp) is the hole created in the work by each "ch 1, skip 1 ch" in Row 1. Some people put the hook into the hole (under the chain stitch). I usually do that because it's easier. Others put the hook into the chain stitch. The effect is slightly different but both ways are correct.

"sc in next ch-1 sp" means single crochet in next chain-1 space.

Row 2 in plain English would be:

1. Chain 1. Turn the work around.
2. Single crochet in first single crochet.
3. Chain 1, skip next single crochet
4. Single crochet in next chain-1 space
5. Chain 1, skip next single crochet
6. Repeat 4 and 5 to end of row.
7. Single crochet in last chain-1 space
8. Single crochet in last single crochet.

i'm no longer fullyyt specific if that's good, yet i think of you have a hook rug kit. I had one in the previous, and you opt for a particular hook for it. try going to a shop and asking approximately it if i'm no longer top.
